Teen Outdoor Adventures (TOA) are overnight and multi-day trips in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. We hike among some of the most beautiful mountains in the world, sleep in tents and AMC huts & Lodges, eat delicious food prepared along the trail and by Hut Croo, and challenge ourselves with the support of the entire group. No previous hiking experience required! Just a sense of adventure and desire to challenge yourself.
Teen Outdoor Adventures are offered at no cost to our families thanks to the fundraising efforts of our board and generous community support. In addition, On Belay provides food, and the clothing and equipment necessary for each participant. We are able to do this in part because of the amazing generosity of AMC's Youth Opportunities Program.
This year, On Belay will be offering 2 Teen Outdoor Adventure trips. In March, we'll be headed to the White Mountains for our first ever Winter TOA overnight! We'll explore snowy mountain trails by day, and enjoy the warm comfort of an AMC Lodge by night. And we'll head back to the Whites for the (newly dubbed) Summer TOA backpacking trip. This year there's a little bit of everything - wilderness camping, spectacular views, and challenging trails. Both trips are sure to be amazing!
Winter Teen Outdoor Adventure: March 7-8, 2020
Summer Teen Outdoor Adventure: August 2-5, 2020
How to Register
Registration for Teen Outdoor Adventures are open to teens ages 14-18 who have attended at least one On Belay youth program before the start of the trip. Registration will be open for:
Winter TOA: January 9-31, 2020
Summer TOA: April 1-30, 2020
Please register online between those dates. Both trips have a limited number of spaces. Registered teens will be selected via lottery at the close of the each registration period.
You will be notified by phone on February 3, 2020 (Winter TOA) or May 1, 2020 (Summer TOA), if your teen is selected to participate. Once the trip is full, all other names will be drawn and added to a wait list. Those on the waitlist will be notified by email with the spot they hold on the waitlist. Please note: If your teen is selected we will ask you to confirm their ability to participate. If, at that time, your teen is unable to participate, we will draw a new name from the waitlist.
For questions about trip options, registration or participation requirements, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
