On Belay was founded by Crescentia Healy-True, a woman of great passion and vision, to fulfill an unmet need for healthy young people who are often overlooked when a family member receives the diagnosis of a serious illness.
The first On Belay program was held on June 5, 2004 at the University of New Hampshire’s Browne Center; it served eighteen participants. On Belay now hosts a number of programs at multiple venues throughout the year, serving hundreds of children from across northern New England.
On Belay’s board, staff, and volunteers are committed to the following core values:
- Creative, youth-centeric, caring, and compassionate delivery of programs
- Integrity and clarity of purpose in all interactions and decisions
- Commitment to excellence in all organizational activities
- Inclusivity and respect for each other and for all constituents
- Mindful, reflective, and prudent governance
On Belay continues in the memory of its vibrant and determined founder, Crescentia Healy-True, who continues to inspire.
