What is ON-BELAY?

On-BELAY is a unique outdoor-adventure-based support program for young people living with a loved one’s diagnosis of cancer or other life-changing illness

OUR MISSION

On Belay is an organization committed to helping young people discover their own power to face the extraordinary challenge of living with a loved ones diagnosis of cancer or other life-changing illness.

We do this by offering fun, interactive, and exciting experiences rooted in adventure learning philosophies aimed at creating community. All activities are designed to help young people enhance their sense of personal power, security, strength, and control.

OUR VALUES

KIDS FIRST!

Without exception, everything we do is focused on what On Belay participants need and want. We listen closely to and understand the messages of our “kids” and plan our activities based on their needs.

COMPASSION

We care about people. We focus on the compelling needs, desires, and hopes of those we serve, and we act in a manner that demonstrates our deep care for their circumstances.

HOPE and OPTIMISM

We recognize hope and optimism as powerful wellness agents. With every On Belay program, we instill in our participants and their families an attitude of “I can accomplish anything.”

FUN

We ensure that every On Belay experience incorporates an opportunity for our participants to challenge themselves, but more importantly that they are having fun while they’re meeting these challenges. Laughter is a familiar noise at On Belay.

CREATIVITY

We constantly seek new ways to change and improve what we offer so that our activities and services feel “fresh” for our participants. We engage our imaginations and challenge ourselves to “think outside the box” so that we continue provide the best services possible.
